About the tutor:
James Owen Thomas is an award winning environmental artist and published author. From being very young, he hated seeing litter and was attracted by shiny pieces of discarded paper and card. National Lottery scratch cards with their bright shiny surfaces, particularly attracted James’s eye.
Once back home, James would cut the paper and card with scissors or use a hole punch to make small pieces, which he stuck onto paper to make artwork with. With a love of nature, the environment, and architecture, James has developed his artwork to showcase these subjects.
James is now a full-time environmental artist with a studio and gallery in Manningham, Bradford. He was ' One Step Greener Ambassador ' for COP 26, the UK Government campaign ' Together for Our Planet '. He is also a Tree Council and Council for Disabled Children Ambassador. In November 2025, James won the Management and Enterprise title at the West Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards.
